Everyone love to have a garden. Who would not love to grow some plants which you can add to your daily dishes? It’s more trustworthy and healthy to put home grown herbs in your pot rather than poisoned vegies and herbs from the market. Moreover it gives self- pleasure seen them growing healthier.
There are 6 things you need to concern when you grow a herb garden from the beginning.

1.    What to grow
The first thing to consider is what herbs you use in your kitchen frequently. Give your first preference to those. Some of common herbs grow are basil, mint, rosemary, coriander, parsley, thyme, lavender, sage and oregano.

2.    How easy to grow from seeds
Some herbs its convenience to grow from seeds and some better buy in plant form. Lemongrass, chives, basil, parsley and thyme are some of herbs which you can grow from seeds. It will obviously based on it’s availability in your local market space.

3.    Soil
Herbs will not grow in wet clay soil. So the adequate drainage is mandatory especially when it comes to potted planting. By adding organic medium such as compost, peat moss, composted manures to your pots you can improve it’s drainage. Herbs grow best in slightly alkaine soil( clay soil with less than 8.5 pH). If your soil seems too acidic you can sprinkle some lime juice over it.

4.    Climate condition
Climate is also very important factor in growing herbs such as sunlight, humidity level, wind and sea breeze etc. Basil, chives, dill, oregano, rosemary, thyme are some of plants loves full sun while lemon balm and mint loves partial sun. Based on it even you can grow certain herbs indoor. The location is a key to receive it’s full capacity in flavour and fragnance.

5.    Maintenance
What makes your herbs fast and neat is pruning. Pruning a herb means harvesting the great tasting leaves & stems. And based on the plant type, whether it’s annual or perennial you may need to get ready to plant the next batch. Once plants flower and grow seeds it’s a sign that its coming to it’s final stage of the plant life

6.    Fertilizing
Fertilizing herbs is much important as it’s going to be in your dish. So always go for organic fertilizers.
