The herb of courage which soothes your body and mind…!



Ancient Greeks used thyme in their bath and use it as an incense  in temples believing it as a source of courage. In the European Middle Ages , thyme was placed beneath pillows as a sleeping aid by avoids nightmares. In this period, women have been often gifted knights and warriors gifts that included thyme leaves, as it believed that it brings courage to the bearer. Thyme was also used as incense and placed on coffins during funerals, with the belief of its ability to assure passage into the next life.

Fresh and dried both versions are used in food to flavour and as and source of fragrance. It’s mostly used in season soups, sauces, and braises, potatoes, rice dishes, vegetables and even fresh bread. Also it blends well with herbs like; oregano and marjoram, and is used throughout Italian, French, and of course, Mediterranean cooking.

Thymol, in thyme essential oil, is an active ingredient in various commercially produced mouthwashes. Also found as the active ingredient in some all-natural, alcohol-free hand sanitizers. Tisane (herbal tea) made by infusing the herb in water can be used for coughs and bronchitis.
